  2. About my nexus 7, I followed your directions on rooting and sixaxis and everything worked beutifully. Thanks for that. There has been since a google update for the nexus that will allow your homescreen to rotate, so I updated and now my controller won't connect to my nexus. It could be aomething, it could be nothing, I just don't want to do the wrong thing and jack something up. Your help or input in this will be a huge help. Thanks in advance. smithboy30. I don't know how you responde to your questions but heres my email, smithboy30@hotmail.com

    1. Try uninstalling Sixaxis, that should fix it. If not, leave another comment and I would be happy to help.

I also sent an EMail in case you don't check here.

  4. Thanks for the review of the INVELLOP Smart Case for iPad Mini. Question: Is it possible to leave the case on and use the iSight camera on the back? Does the folded-back cover get in the way of comfortably holding the device while filming? Thank you.

    1. It sometimes does get in the way. However, you can still fold the back of the flap together and comfortably use the camera. The INVELLOP case is fantastic; if you're looking for back protection and a smart cover like case, definitely get it.

  5. Okay, thanks! And... any chance you know of a decent, simple tripod mount for iPad mini? (for keeping the device stationary while shooting video) A google search turns up various models which I am now wading through.... Thank you.

    1. Hit the home button on the home screen and long hold the screens and drag them to the x on the top of the screen. Hopefully this helps.

  7. Hey. It's Neil Thompson from YouTube. We've been discoursing about my new Nexus 4. I have a question for you. I used xda's mskip's nexus 4 toolkit to do the all-in-one recovery, root, busybox, rename restored files (option 4).
The phone got through it just fine. Everything on the phone works and I had no bricking or issues at all. I am listed as a developer in the settings now and the phone on recovery boot now shows "unlocked". Titanium Backup opens and works, etc...

HOWEVER... If my device IS in fact rooted I should be able to use FoxFi, Beats Audio Drivers, and other root only apps. But all of them notify me that they can't run because I don't have a root!!
    WTF?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance :-)

    Neil

    1. Honestly, I am not a big fan of toolkits. I would go ahead and try to unroot your N4 w/ the toolkit if you insist on not doing it manually. Then just reroot it and see what kind of response the N4 gives you.

    2. that is what I did. And like I said, everything rebooted fine and in the recovery screen it shows that my phone is rooted in the bootlauncher is unlocked. I have downloaded superuser and titanium backup. But none of those will work because they say I don't have superuser status. :-/

    3. as for whether or not I successfully rooted my device, does this mean anything? I just rebooted into recovery mode to carefully read what it says. The bright green letters at the bottom say "safe boot enabled". Am I correct in thinking that it would perhaps say Disabled if I have rooted the device? Sorry for all the questions. I need to go back and watch your videos again

    4. sorry, I just reread your response and realized you said I should UNroot it using the toolkit and then re-root it again. I will try that tomorrow. Thanks so much and I'll let you know how it goes

    5. In the continuing saga I discovered that the Beats Audio driver DOES work. It auto activates when the headphone jack is plugged in. I usually stream wirelessly... So it would appear my root was successful. Now to figure out what I did wrong to no be granted super user status :-/
      Merry Christmas! :-D

    6. At least Beats works. Let me know what happens. Merry Christmas!

  8. Oh, also, do you have this issue?
I CONSTANTLY get a notification that my "Browser Memory is Full". Have to click the notification and allow it to clear google info.
Seems crazy that this would be an issue. I haven't even used my browsers for anything that would take up memory. Very little browsing, and no bookmarks or anything yet.
Oh, and this notification comes up no matter what browser I'm using, so it's a google thing I guess. (I use Boat, Chrome, Firefox, and Firefox BETA)

    1. Try and clear your cache. If that doesn't work, try a factory reset. That may clear out your phone.

  9. ugh. Another factory reset. I'll have to set everything up all over again but I understand it maybe necessary. will a factory reset work properly since I rooted my device?
I tried to clear my cache but I can't find where is in the settings. And like I said it's not a browser thing because it gives me the same message no matter what browser I'm using. It makes me clear Google-related memory

    ReplyDelete
  10. Cleared my device storage cache in the data settings. But, again I don't think this is the issue because the message I get in the notification bar is that the browser memory is full. Not the phone memory. It's weird I've never seen anything like it

  11. Unlocked, Rooted, running faux123's brand new kernel for the nexus 4. Still on stock ROM. Can't see why to flash yet. Can no longer use Google wallet, but hoping for improved battery life. The 3.5 hours of moderate use I've gotten from day one just isn't cutting it. Hadn't really hit me yet since I charge at home then car then work, etc. But my last 3 day trip to Vegas made me realize that the nexus 4's excuse for battery life if an inexcusable joke. A real deal breaker

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh, and paid for titanium back up pro and clockwork mod/ROM manager pro versions. Super user status is awesome! :-D

  13. Running faux 123 kernel now and paid for faux clockwork enhancer on the market. All in an attempt to get better than 3.5 hours TOTAL battery life even with light usage and screen set to minimum brightness. The only thing I haven't changed yet is the ROM. Still stock. Any advice from you Guru? Or anyone else on here?

    1. I think I got a little better battery life by clocking my CPU down by about 50 percent. But then I realized, what's the point of having this super fast fancy new device that I love if I can take advantage of the speed. When I set it that low I have trouble with voice commands and everything takes forever. I'd like to find a way to use the full 1.5 gigahertz speed but still get a little better than 3 hours battery time

  14. I followed the steps in your "Make Your Nexus 4 Like Mine" vid. How can I add/change widgets to my lock scree? And I have a thin blue line at the top screen just above where the notifications show. How can I remove that?
